The 138-th INTA Annual Meeting was held in Orlando, USA, from May 21 through May 25, 2016. This year Alexey Gorodissky, AGP Partner, Attorney-at-Law and Trademark Attorney, moderated a roundtable discussion on Unfair Competition and Abuse of Rights in the Context of Trademark Disputes in Russia.
The INTA Annual Meeting was attended by more than 10,000 trademark professionals, being the largest assembly in more than 130-year history of the Association. Apart from moderating the roundtable, during the 5-day meeing Alexey had multiple meetings with AGP’s current and prospective clients as well as IP colleagues from India, China, England, USA, Italy, Germany, and other countries.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) is a global association of trademark owners and professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks and related intellectual property in order to protect consumers and to promote fair and effective commerce.
INTA’s members are more than 6,500 organizations from 190 countries. The Association's member organizations are represented by approx..30,000 trademark professionals, including brand owners from major corporations as well as small- and medium-sized enterprises, law firms and nonprofits. There are also government agency members as well as individual professor and student members.
INTA undertakes advocacy work throughout the world to advance trademarks and offers educational programs and informational and legal resources of global interest. Headquartered in New York City, INTA also has offices in Brussels, Shanghai and Washington D.C. and representatives in Geneva and Mumbai.
The Association was founded in 1878 by 17 merchants and manufacturers who saw a need for an organization “to protect and promote the rights of trademark owners, to secure useful legislation and to give aid and encouragement to all efforts for the advancement and observance of trademark rights."
AGP is an INTA member attending its annual meetings. The next, 139th Annual Meeting will take place in May 2017 in Barcelona, Spain.
